What are Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPC)?

CPCs are clinics or mobile vans that may look like real health centers, but are not licensed health clinics. These clinics do not provide abortion services or offer a full range of health care. Often, these clinics will spread misinformation about sexual or reproductive health.

They are often run by anti-abortion or religious groups and may:

  • Spread misinformation

  • Ask invasive questions (immigration status, family info, pregnancy history)

  • Share personal data with law enforcement or ICE

  • Pressure people against accessing abortion or contraceptives

BEWARE: CPCs are not operated by licensed medical professionals, which means they do not adhere to HIPAA standards and regulations.

What Can You Do?

  • Visit only trusted, licensed health clinics

  • Remember, you are never required to disclose your documentation status

  • Use abortionfinder.org to find a safe clinic

  • Share this info with your community

What are Some Signs?

  • It is listed online as a pregnancy resource center, pregnancy help center, or abortion alternative.

  • They advertise free pregnancy tests, abortion counseling, abortion education, or after abortion help; however, they refuse to connect you to abortion resources.

  • They will advertise “abortion pill reversal” or insinuate that you can reverse an abortion.

  • They will claim that abortions are unsafe and can lead to infertility or cancer. (Abortions are completely safe, with the rate of major complications being less than 1%)

  • They will say negative things about contraceptives and abortion

  • They may not even provide contraceptives like condoms, IUDs, pills, etc

  • They will offer resources such as clothes, diapers, and bottles with loopholes such as attending lectures and workshops.

Your health is a right. Your privacy matters. You are not alone.
